Naval Shipbuilding Specialist (SBS)

(Ship Surveyor – Mulitple Disciplines; Propulsion, Structural, HVAC, Electronics, etc.)

Responsibilities: Provides onsite surveillance of ship repairs, reviews work for conformance to prescribed standards and specifications, and performs inspections for verification of compliance to Government standards. Reviews contractor generated reports and initiates contract changes to facilitate production or technical changes as required. Location of work is in the Naval Operations Base Norfolk, and public and private shipyards in the vicinity of Tidewater Va.

Qualifications: Applicant must possess technical writing skills, knowledge and ability to read and interpret blueprints; computer skills for report generation; and utilization of Naval repair programs and records. A DOD security clearance at a minimum of Confidential is required for this position.
